"Prevention is better than cure" - Dental pit and fissure sealants.
The biting surface of permanent and primary teeth have numerous
tortuous invaginations and irregularities called pits and fissures. A tooth brush may not penetrate and mechanically clean the depths of these irregularities which in turn leads to plague accumulation and subsequent dental decay. Pit and fissure sealants seal the deep pits and fissures, thereby creating a physical obstruction to the entry of fermentative carbohydrates and bacteria into these deep invaginations, thus preventing decay.
